Read-aloud stories for ages 4–8

A storybook your child helps write.

Pick a hero, a place, a problem and one magic object. Weave writes the story a chapter at a time, and your child decides what happens next.

How it works

Three steps to tonight's story

You pick the pieces. Weave writes them together, and stops after every chapter to ask what should happen next.

  1. 1

    Gather the ingredients

Who is the story about? Where does it happen? What's the trouble? Five quick questions, answered in your child's own words, typed or said out loud into the microphone.

  2. 2

    Steer every chapter

Each chapter ends with “What happens next?” Your child makes it up, or taps Get a boost for three ideas to pick from. A line they don't like? Say “No, change that” and it's rewritten.

  3. 3

    Read it again and again

Three to six chapters later, the story is finished and sitting on your shelf. Put your child's own drawing or photo on the cover, and read it together whenever you like.

What you get

Made for bedtime, not for prompt boxes

Short sentences, concrete pictures, gentle humour. Nothing frightening, no moralising, and a child in charge of the plot.

  • Their ideas, not a template

Every ingredient is written in your child's own words. A fox named Pip, a bridge that vanished, a lantern that hums. Whatever they come up with.

  • A choice at every chapter

The story pauses after each chapter so your child can decide what happens next. Three to six turns, each one a little cliffhanger.

  • “No, change that”

Ask for changes in plain words, as many times as you like. Braver, funnier, less scary, add a dragon. The chapter is rewritten on the spot.

  • Say it, don't type it

Every field has a microphone, so a five-year-old can answer the questions and steer the story without spelling a thing.

  • Written in a voice you love

Add a writing style, like Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein or Shakespeare, and the whole book sounds that way, while staying entirely original.

  • Their drawing on the cover

Upload a photo or a crayon masterpiece and it becomes the book's cover on the shelf. The story is theirs, inside and out.

Questions

Good to know before bedtime

Who is Weave for?

Children aged four to eight, and the grown-up reading with them. Every chapter is written to be read aloud: short sentences, concrete images, gentle humour. Nothing violent, nothing frightening, no moralising.

Is Weave a good way to introduce AI?

We think so. It's a basic, hands-on loop: your child gives the ideas, the AI writes, and your child says what should change and sees it happen. There are no prompts to learn, and every chapter follows the same read-aloud rules, so it's a safe and fun first look at directing an AI creatively.

How long is a storybook?

You choose three to six chapters when you set it up. Each chapter is a few sentences, about a page of a picture book, so a whole story fits comfortably into one bedtime, or you can stretch it over several.

Do I need a password?

No. You sign in with your Google account, and the first time you do, that's your Weave account. Nothing else to set up.

What if my child doesn't like a chapter?

Tell Weave what should be different, in their words: make Pip braver, less scary, add a dragon. The chapter is rewritten and the story carries on from there. You can change a chapter as many times as you like, and it never costs you a story.

What counts as a storybook?

A story counts the moment its first chapter is written. That's when it stops being a free draft. Everything inside a started book is included: changes, boosts and later chapters. Your first storybook is free; Weave Plus adds 10 more each month for $5/month.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from the account menu inside the app. Every finished story stays on your shelf, and a book you've started can always be finished.
